I know Christmas is the most exciting time of the year!! I LOVE Christmas myself!
However it is also one of our longer holidays of the school year and it is so important your child keeps up with their reading skills at this point in their school life.
So between eating mince pies, visiting family and singing Christmas songs, please try to find some time (even just 5 minutes a day) to practise the sounds taught so far with your child, their tricky words and blending the sounds to make 2, 3 or 4 letter words!
Letters will be sent home this week with sound charts for you to use with your child. You could make your own sounds on sheets of paper and play some games (pairs/snap/simple scrabble/children's countdown)! I have attached copies of these letters below, including a complete phase 2 and 3 sound chart for those of you who would like further challenge for your child.
Have fun and keep reading!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
