Notice Board

Due to the cold weather and snow days, our Reception Welcome service has been postponed to Monday 12th March. Please see the letter below, it came home in book bags on Monday 5th March.

Please join us on Wednesday 28th February at 10am at St Peters Church.

We would love to take all our Reception children along to the service, but we do need some parent helpers to help us keep the children safe when walking down to the Church. If you are able to walk with us please let us know. Click on the link below to see the letter sent home on Monday.

If anyone has any old guttering they do not want anymore we'd would love to use it in our outdoor area. It doesn't matter the colour or the length.

Thank you!

Good morning!

Just a quick reminder to bring in a 4 pint milk bottle for our work on Arctic animals.

Please continue to practise;

  1. Teaching your child to do up their own zip - it may take a few minutes at the beginning, but they will soon learn and get quicker. Please let them do their own coat zips as often as possible. It will be so helpful to us at playtimes if your children can do their own zips.
  2. Keep learning those tricky words and new sounds sent home each week. This will be such a great support to your child and help them move forward in their reading.

Thank you,

Sunday 10th September 2017

Don't forget to sign up on your EYFS2 newsletter to say which 'Early Reading and Phonics Support' parents meeting you'd like to attend on the 20th September. I will be talking about how you can support your child at home, as well as giving you some information about our online learning journals we use in Reception at St John's.

If you need another copy of the newsletter, download from the link above 'Reception Newsletters'.

We would also like your child to bring in a photograph of themselves or their family, as we will be talking about belonging and families this week at school. Don't forget to pop a name on the back so we can make sure they are returned safely.

Thank you,

Mrs Smith

Please keep an eye out in book bags for sun cream letters this week. We are holding a sun safe assembly on Thursday and will be encouraging the children to look aftyer their skin as the summer months arrive. Please support us in keeping your children safe by applying sun cream before school each morning, providing a named wide brimmed hat for your children to wear every day and encouraging your child to stay in the shade during the hot sunny days as well as drinking plenty of water.

Monday 10th April 2017

Over the Easter holidays it would be great if your child could keep a journal and write about some of the things they have done in the holiday. We would love to share them with the rest of the class when we return to school in a few weeks. This will keep them practising all their writing skills we have been working on at school this term:

  • capital letter at the start of each sentence
  • full stop at the end of each sentence
  • finger spaces between each word
  • form each letter correctly
  • spell some of the high frequency tricky words (e.g. the, we, you, he, she, go, to)

For example:

I went to the park with my friends.

It was fun.

Don't forget to celebrate the end of our half term and week on Superheroes the children are all invited to come to school on Friday 10th dressed up as a SUPERHERO!!! I can't wait to see the wonderful costumes, I am currently deciding what kind of superhero I may be as well...

Thank you so much to all our parents who managed to come and support the presentation last week on 'Evidence for Learning'. If you were unable to attend I have attached the presentation below, please do not hesitate to pop in and ask any further questions. If you need another email sent to receive the link and password just let us know and we can send you a new email.

Friday 16th September

Click on the newsletter link above to read all about how you can come and join us for lunch at St John's! Letters were sent home in book bags today.

Friday 9th September

Next week (week beginning 12th September) our topic will be 'Why do you love me so much?'

We would like the children to bring in a photo of their family. To avoid any confusion please could you write your child's name on the back of the photo so that they can be returned to the correct child.
