I hope that you all enjoyed collecting sounds yesterday like The Sound Collector.

Did you notice how every sound was described in the poem?  This is the sentence pattern that the poet uses.

The ____________ing of the ______________________

The whistling of the kettle

Look at the written version of the poem to help you spot this pattern.

Now I would like you to use this pattern to innovate the poem with your own ideas.

So instead of:

The purring of the kitten.

You might have:

The barking of the dog.

The quacking of the duck.

The cheeping of the birds.

Look back at your list/drawing of the sounds you heard yesterday to help you.

You can write your ideas straight into your book or use the sheet to help you.
