Phonics

We are continuing Phase 4 phonics this week.

You will still need to keep practising your Phase 3 sounds. This website, that we gave you the link to last week,  is really useful. It gives you a lesson for each digraph or trigraph, so choose the sounds you need to practise. If you need to practise reading and writing three letter words(Phase 2) then have a look at the lessons in the 'Learning to Blend' section.

Also, continue to use Phonics Play to practise your sounds and words.

In addition, look in the 'Tricky words and phonics songs ' section for all the songs that we use.

This week we continue our topic on Amazing Journeys. It is so exciting this week, because we are going back in time. We are going to visit Dinosaur Land. Perhaps, you could design, draw, paint or make a Time Machine to travel back in time. We are going to be looking at the story of Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs. We will also be learning about dinosaurs and writing some information about them.

Listen to the story of Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs.  What would you like to find in your bucket? Would you like to find dinosaurs or something else? Maybe, some pets or some wild animals or sea creatures.

Task 1: Write a list of what is in your bucket. Try to spell the words yourself. Just have a go and use your sound mats to help you.

Task 2: We would like most of you to do Task 2.

Write some simple sentences about what is in your bucket.

I can see a ….

It is a…

Can you use some adjectives to describe what you find e.g. I have a green, jumping frog.

You can make some stick puppets and use them to tell the story.
