This week's Maths is all about volume and capacity. 


Firstly, what is the difference between volume and capacity? 


Look at this measuring jug. 



The jug holds 1 litre in total. This is the capacity- the total amount of substance that a container can hold. 


There is 400ml of liquid in the jug. This is the volume- the amount of space taken up by the substance itself. 


We can find the volume of lots of different things such as shapes and cubes, shown on the PowerPoint below.
