Our Trip to Conkers!

It's Not A Stick!  It's a ...

... magic wand, a sword, a Stick Man, a paint brush, a spear, a baton ...

A huge thank you to all parents and grandparents who came into our classrooms to look at our fantastic 'Bright Lights, Big City' work.

We recreated this on our playground!

A big thank you to Matilda, Sophie, Jack, Hope, Poppy, Ryan, Archie, Connie, Rhiannon, Demi, William, Ellie and Theo who donated their houses to our experiment!

Chinese New Year!

Tim Peake tweets a picture of the UK from space!

We have enjoyed trying to identify London on the picture!  If you click on the picture it will take you directly to Tim Peake's 'Cosmic Classroom' session where school children were asking him lots of different questions about life in space.  We have really enjoyed looking at some of his 'space tricks!'

We have directed Bee-Bots to our favourite London Landmarks on mats and on iPads!

A surprise package from London Zoo!

Ready for PE!

A Reply from London Zoo!

Dear Miss Olk’s Year 1 class,

Thank you very much for sending your email to ZSL.

Firstly it’s great to hear that you’ve chosen to research our zoo and animals! As much as we would love to answer your queries however, the questions that you have attached, although very interesting, are too broad and wide-ranging for our staff to answer comprehensively for you unfortunately.

In order to help answer some of these questions however, I would recommend doing some research about the animal species that we have, and the conservation work that we do to help protect them by exploring our website.

Apologies if this was not quite the response you were hoping for, but I wish you all the best of luck with your research!

Kind regards,

Be Inspired

We will be looking at this advert in detail over this coming week for our challenge work.
Who do you think the man is?
How did he get on the moon?
Does he want to be on the moon?
How do you think he felt at the beginning of the advert?
Do you think he felt differently at the end? Why?

Summer Holiday Fun - Paws, Claws and Whiskers!

I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday! When you return we will be starting our Paws, Claws and Whiskers topic! Many of you will have started your project from the list of wonderful ideas that you were given just before we broke up for the holidays - I can't wait to see what you've been busy creating! Don't panic if you haven't started yet, there's still plenty of time before you come back to school - I've even posted this cool video to inspire you to create some wonderful project work! All of your creations will be proudly displayed in our classroom!

Happy making!

Miss Olk :)
