Mrs Gartside's phonics group

Hello everyone,

Because it's been a while since we were all doing phonics and spelling together,  I thought it would be an idea to go back a little and look again at some of the tricky words we'd learnt before.

  • Using Phonics Play, find the 'Train Your Brain' game for phase 3.
  • Find the 'Choose words' option and read through all the words.
  • Next click on each word to remind yourself of the bits that make each word tricky.
  • Ask an adult to test you on each word.
  • Any words you struggled with can then be practiced for the rest of the week.
  • Use the Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check to practice spelling each word, together with the other ideas on the previous page.

Write each word in a sentence using neat handwriting (with kick up and flick outs) capital letters, finger spaces and full-stops.

I'd love to see how you do on Friday.  Let me know and we'll celebrate your efforts.  We won't publish your individual scores, so don't worry if you don't get them all, as long as you've tried. :-)
