Hello and welcome to Quarndon!
I'm Miss Cooper and I will be your class teacher in September.
I have been teaching at St. John's for 6 years. During that time, I have taught in Years 2 and 5, as some of you will remember from being in my class. This year, I am very excited that I am able to share the journey from Year 5 to Year 6 with you!
As I am sure you will have realised by now, we are going to be Quarndon class! Quarndon is a village about 6 miles down the road from Belper. You will probably have been past Quarndon when you have travelled along the A6 to go to Derby.
Our Year 6 classroom is room B3, which can be found in the first block on the playground. See if you can locate this on the plan of the school below.
We have lots of fabulous projects lined up for you in Year 6! Whether you want to travel back in time to 1939 and learn about Britain at war, want to find out all about the polar regions or get involved in science investigations, we have the project for you. I certainly can't wait for all of the exciting activities and learning opportunities.
Eager to get started? Our first project is going to be 'Revolution'. We are going to be going back to the Victorian era! Find the project information and homework ideas below.
Each project brings great opportunities and memorable experiences for you! These could include some of the following:
Oh and one more thing... I have received many updates from some of Year 5 over the last few weeks telling me how disappointed you were that your residential had to be cancelled. Some of you even spent time camping in your gardens to make up for it! So I think you will be very happy to hear that the Year 6 residential will be...
This is one of my favourite trips so I am probably just as excited as you! Here is a sneaky peek...
Mrs Paine will be teaching you for indoor PE every Thursday morning. Mrs Winson-Bushby will be teaching you French every Friday afternoon.
Our PE sessions are as follows:
Outdoor- Monday afternoon
Indoor- Thursday morning
You will be set weekly homework in addition to reading 5 times a week, as you will be used to. You will find out more about this in September.
