Hello, my name is Miss Thompson and I will be your class teacher in September.

All about me

I started teaching at St. John's in September 2018 and I have been teaching in year 3 for the last two years. Whilst I love teaching in year 3, I am super excited to start teaching in year 6.

My favourite hobby is listening to music. I also enjoy walking, dancing and seeing my friends. I love football! I support Man United ... I'm hoping they make a top 4 finish in the Premier League Table this year.

Stars Wars and Harry Potter are my favourite films - I could watch them on repeat and not get bored!

If you would like to introduce yourself or ask me a question, please use the contact form at the bottom of the page.

Our Classroom

My classroom is the far corner classroom named C2 (see sheet below). You have either been opposite me this year or next to me!

Unfortunately, I haven't got any pictures of the inside of the classroom yet. My classroom is still 'year 3ish' and is being painted over the 6 weeks holidays. As soon as it's been painted, I'm coming into school to get it all ready for you.

Please see the picture below of your classroom door. I have also posted a picture of the outside area at the back of the classroom. When the weather is nice, we often go outdoors for outdoor learning and outdoor reading.

We are Rowsley class; Rowsley is a village on the A6 road in the English county of Derbyshire. It is at the point where the River Wye flows into the River Derwent.

Projects next year

Below are your exciting Cornerstones Projects that you will do in year 6: Revolution, Frozen Kingdom, Science, Darwin's Delights, A Child's War and Hola Mexico! I am simply unable to choose a favourite one as I am excited about all of them. I hope you are too! If you would like to message me saying which project you are looking forward to the most, please do using the contact form.

Our first project is Revolution ... the links below have more information about the project and home learning ideas for you to do.

I am looking forward to lots of English, Maths and Project in September. There will be other lessons including: French, R.E and PSHE. French will be taught on a Wednesday afternoon by Mrs Winston-Bushby. Mrs Taylor will also be teaching you for a lesson on a Thursday morning.

Outdoor P.E - Tuesday

Indoor P.E - Thursday

Residential and memorable experiences

This year, in Year 6, your residential will be to Whitehall. I hope you are super excited for this as I know you sadly missed out on Whitehall in Year 5. I was lucky enough to go to Whitehall last year and I had a really good time getting involved with all of the activities.

We have a range of excitng memorable experiences and services in year 6, these include:

  • A trip to Magna
  • Harvest service
  • A trip to Eden Camp
  • A street party
  • 'Hola Mexico' day
  • Year 6 Prom
  • Year 6 leavers service

Please see the link below for more information on next year.

Please read the Year 6 transition letter from the Year 6 teachers

A Rewarding Year

Below are some pictures of my favourite quotes that reflect my thoughts towards learning. I want you to come to school in September ready to learn with a positive attitude. We will work together, as a team, to reach your goals and we will make your final year at St. John's a special and rewarding one.

A message from me ...
