Sudbury

A warm welcome to Sudbury Nursery class!

We are Nursery, also referred to as Early Years Foundation Stage 1 (EYFS1)

All of the classes in school have been given names, using letters of the alphabet.  It has been decided to use local place names. Our name is.... Sudbury...

If you need to contact our school this school year, you can use this name as well as my name

(Mrs Gallen), to identify the class your child is in.

We look forward to meeting you.

The adults in Nursery are Mrs Gallen the Class Teacher ( left) and Mrs Grigoriu the Teaching Assistant.( Right)

My name is Mrs Gallen. I have worked at St John’s from the opening of the nursery in 2017. Together with Mrs G, we work hard to create an exciting and stimulating environment for children to learn, develop and enjoy.

My name is Mrs Grigoriu. I have also worked alongside Mrs Gallen since 2017. I really like outdoor learning in our Nursery Garden.

Your child will have the opportunity to explore a range of experiences, covering all the areas of the EYFS curriculum. I am looking forward to meeting you all in September, when we can begin our learning journey at St John’s. Have a fantastic summer, stay safe and see you soon.

Experiences in Nursery at St John's:

The children in Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, so we are constantly giving the children opportunities to explore and learn through play, indoors and outdoors.

Some of the other special events that take place during the first year at school are:

*The children perform some Christmas songs for parents at Christmas time

*We hold a Christmas party in Nursery before we break up for our Christmas holiday

*In the Spring time, we watch frogspawn hatch into tadpoles, then grow and develop into froglets!

*Nursery join in with the Infants sports day in the summer term

*Nursery graduation service takes place at the end of the year,

before your child moves into Reception

Where are we?

You can find us in our purpose built Nursery building (E1 on the plan below), near the school hall.
