World Book Day 2021

Join in the celebrations for World Book Day on Thursday 4th March 2021.

At St John's, we will be spending the whole day on Thursday celebrating reading.  Every class will take part in fun, reading related activities throughout the day both at home and in school.

Join in the fun and dress up as a character from a book.

No need to buy anything special.  Have a rummage in your wardrobe and use your imagination to create a fantastic costume to wear on Thursday.

You can find lots of ideas for costumes on the web, for example:

Decorate your scooter

Have fun decorating your scooter with a reading theme then send a picture to Mrs Newton via your Google Classroom.  She will be sending you some information via your Google Classroom so watch out for it!

There will be prizes for the best scooter in EYFS, KS1, Lower KS2 (Years 3&4) and Upper KS2 (Years 5&6).  The competition will be judged by Mr Bounds who is the Senior Transport Officer for Derbyshire County Council. You might remember him - he came in to talk about his books and brought his budgies with him on World Book Day last year.

World Book Day Book Tokens

As usual, there are some special books that have been written for World Book Day which cost £1 or are free with a World Book Day Token.  All children in school are given a token and this year they are available digitally for children who are learning at home. To download your voucher go to:
