Break Up for Half Term

A reminder that next week is a four-day week for the children. School will be closed to children on Friday 23rd October while our staff complete their annual First Aid and Allergy Training, an important part of ensuring we continue to keep everyone in our school community safe and well cared for.

Harvest Festival 2026

Autumn time has arrived and once again it is the time of year when we look forward to our Harvest Festival Celebration. This will be at St Peter's Church on Thursday 22nd October at 9:45 and will be led by our Year 3 and Year 4 children.

As part of our tradition, we are once again collecting donations to support Padley (Derbyshire) and Hope for Belper, who will distribute them to local individuals and families in need.

If you are able to contribute, please bring your donations to the school office between Monday 19th October and Thursday 22nd October ready for collection/delivery following our harvest service.

Health Checklist 2026

We have been asked by the Derbyshire Health Protection Team to share their Health Checklist 2026. They hope families will find it a helpful resource and that it will support children to stay well throughout the school year.

Click here to go to the booklet they have published.

Flu Immunisations

We have this week received information from the flu immunisation team confirming this year's arrangements.

The arrangements are as follows:
  • Parents will be contacted directly by the immunisation team via email/text with the link to give consent.
  • From 2nd November parents will start to receive this email/text.
  • Parents will need to select St Johns CofE Primary and Nursery as the school is on the list under its full name.
  • Parents are advised to check spam/junk emails.
  • The flu immunisation team will be attending on 23rd November 2026.
Individual and Sibling Photographs

On Thursday 5th November Tempest Photography will be back with us in school for the individual and sibling photos. Arrangements will be sent out soon.

The Big Question

The "Big Question" is shared with children every week to spark critical thinking, cultivate empathy, and build communication skills.

What changes could we make to make our school and community more just?

The South East Derbyshire Music Centre Guitar Day

We have been asked to share this opportunity with you for all Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Ukulele and Bass Guitar Players

South East Derbyshire Music Centre is running a special Guitar Day on Saturday 7 November, giving young musicians the chance to experience playing as part of a large band with other like-minded players from across the local area.

This FREE event will run as two separate sessions, so players can take part at a level that suits them best.
