    Sport Premium

The Sports Premium is government funding that helps us strengthen PE, sport and physical activity across St. John’s. We use this funding to improve the quality of teaching, widen opportunities for pupils, and encourage all children to enjoy being active. This includes specialist coaching, new equipment, staff training and activities that help children develop confidence, fitness and a lifelong love of sport.

    Changes for 2026/27

From 2026/27, the government is introducing updated guidance on how Sports Premium funding should be used. Schools will be expected to show even clearer evidence of impact, with a stronger focus on increasing daily physical activity, improving swimming outcomes and ensuring long-term sustainability of PE provision. At St. John’s, we are already preparing for these changes so that our pupils continue to benefit from high-quality sport and physical activity throughout the year.
