We are pleased to be able to offer 5 different ways that parents can use local child care.

The before and after school and holiday clubs are run by third parties at St. John's. We do not charge these companies to use the school and provide rooms and utilities for free so that the costs to families can be kept as low as possible. These are not school clubs, they are not run by school staff and parents need to contact the clubs to ask about bookings, activities, costs and times.
The school completes a safeguarding check to ensure that staff at these clubs are DBS checked, but parents need to carry out any other checks, for example with regard to medical care, first aid, diet and individual risk assessments, as these are the responsibility of the clubs and not the school.
Verity Wragg and her team look forward to welcoming you to school from 7.30 a.m. every day for breakfast and can look after you after school until 5:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and until 5:00 p.m. on Fridays with a light meal.
Activities include morning sports with qualified sports coaches, computer and traditional games, gardening, art and craft and much more.

Amber Valley School Sports Partnership (AVSSP) run regular holiday clubs in the local area. AVSSP works at St. John's every Wednesday providing PE clubs and coaching to children and staff and run the majority of the after-school competitions that we attend.
There are a number of local childminders who provide before and after-school childcare for families attending St John's. We have positive relationships with several local providers who regularly drop off and collect children from school, working closely with us to ensure that children arrive and leave safely each day.
While we are unable to recommend any specific childminder, the websites below can help you find registered childcare providers in the local area. Please note that St John's is not responsible for the services provided by any childminders listed on these websites. We strongly encourage parents and carers to check that a childminder is appropriately registered and to seek recommendations from other families when choosing a childcare provider.

Books at Breakfast runs every morning and provides a welcoming start to the school day. This free club is available to eligible pupils who are invited and offers a nutritious breakfast in a calm and friendly environment. Children have the opportunity to read with an adult, receive support with homework, or take part in a range of enjoyable activities, including crafts. The club is led by Mrs Bott and other members of our school staff, helping children begin each day happy, settled and ready to learn.
