The School Day: Timetable and Routines

The School Day

Arriving at School (Reception to Year 6)

  • A member of the Leadership Team opens the school gate each morning at 8.50am.
  • Children should go straight to their classroom, where their teacher will be ready to welcome them. A member of staff is also available on the playground to provide support for children and families if needed.
  • The gate closes promptly at 9.00am. Children arriving after this time should enter school through the main entrance at the front of the building.
  • The morning register is taken in each classroom at 9.00am.

Our Attendance Policy explains how we monitor late arrivals and how we work in partnership with families to promote good punctuality. CLICK HERE to view the policy.

End of the School Day (Reception to Year 6)
  • The school gate is opened at 3.20pm by the caretaker.
  • Parents and carers of children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are welcome to come onto the playground to collect their children.
  • To support the development of independence, parents and carers of Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to wait at the front of the school.
  • The school day ends at 3.30pm, when children are dismissed from their classrooms.
  • Children in Reception and Year 1 are handed over directly to a parent or authorised adult by their teacher.
  • The caretaker will close the gate once all children and families have left the playground.

To help keep all children safe, we regularly remind them that if the adult collecting them is not present, they should return immediately to their classroom or the school office. We ask parents and carers to reinforce this message at home and to agree a consistent collection point with their child.

Length of the School Day

Children in Reception to Year 6 attend school from 9.00am to 3.30pm each day, providing a total of 32.5 hours of education per week.

Procedures for Nursery Children.
Start of the session

Parents and carers should bring their child to the nursery gate at the beginning of their session. A member of the nursery team will be there to welcome children and escort them safely into the nursery.

End of the session

At the end of the session, parents and carers should enter the first nursery playground to collect their child. Children will be brought to their parent or carer by a member of the nursery team, ensuring a safe and smooth handover.
