Mrs Girling (Hartington class) and Miss Nicklin (Glossop class) are delighted to welcome you to Year Two.

On this page, you will find information about what you and your child can expect in Year 2. We will also share some photographs of the exciting work we do so that this can be shared and celebrated together at home.

We look forward to working with you all to ensure that your child has the best possible experience with us. If any issues do arise, we are always available for quick chats after school (see below for ways to contact us should you wish to make an appointment to discuss a matter in more detail) but ask that only urgent messages are passed on before school.

Timetables

Here is what a typical week looks like in Year 2 for both classes. Occasionally, some slots may vary/change.

Homework

Your child's reading book will be changed every Friday. This book is linked directly to our phonics scheme (Essential Letters & Sounds). Children should read this book to an adult five times per week, in order to develop phonic skills, confidence and fluency.

Each Friday there will be a spelling test. Please help your child to learn these words by spending a few minutes each day practising them. New words to learn will be put in spelling books every Friday.
