Week 3

This week we had great fun discovering and investigating on Science Day!  We had some dinosaur poo delivered to our classroom and together needed to investigate and find out if they were carnivore, herbivore or omnivore dinosaurs - it was brilliant!  Then we read a story called 'Mr Arcamides Bath" and learnt all about water displacement.  We then got to investigate ourselves and add pebbles to a container of water to raise the water level - we loved it!  In the afternoon we went onto the field and went worm hunting.  We found out that worms come out if they think it has been raining, so we tried to trick them by using water and stamping our feet - it worked!

This week the children have also been coming up with their own pirate stories. We created a whole class story using pirate props and the children had some wonderful ideas!

We have also learnt about prehistoric animals through the story 'Cave Baby' by Julia Donaldson and the children had a go at their own cave paintings.

In Maths we have been learning about 3D shapes and the children have been exploring which of these shapes are best for building towers, recognising the flat and curved features of different shapes.
