Who are we?

Marisha Kay
Chairperson 2019 - Present

Hi, I'm Marisha. I've lived in South Africa for most of my life so far, but I'm planning to live in Belper for the rest of my life! I volunteered to lead the PTFA in order to make a positive contribution to our school community. My daughter started in Reception this year and loves St. John's and all the PTFA treats and events. I enjoy hearing the lovely ideas our students, teachers and parents have to further improve the school and love helping to grant these requests for funding. I look forward to meeting new volunteers and benefactors to support our exciting plans.

Nicola Thompson

Co-Chairperson 2019 - present

Hi, I’m Nicola. I'm currently a stay at home mum to five children, two have already been through St. John’s. They also like to help with the PTFA events! I have two that are at St. John’s in year 1 and 2 my youngest will start the nursery in September. This year I will be co-chairing with Marisha. I enjoy organising the events for the children and for families to get together as a community, which in addition helps to fundraise for school.

Charlotte Mather
Treasurer 2018 - Present

Hi, I’m Charlotte. I'm a busy mum of two. My job is to support the committee by managing and control the funds the PTFA raises. I records all income and expenditure, details of the amounts received and spent. In my spare time I also enjoy sewing and cooking. I'm also a governor for our school.

Rebekah Jones
Communications Officer 2018 - present

Hi, I’m Rebekah. As a working mum of one, I really enjoy my role as part of the PTFA. My job is to support the committee with admin and keep the school, parents, carers and members up to date on events and activities. I promote the PTFA events via email, newsletters and playground catch ups! I also get the chance to indulge my creative side by helping decorate the school during events, which is a personal highlight!
Gail Ghai
Social Media Officer - 2019 - Present

Hey, I'm Gail, mum to 2 children at St John's. I decided to volunteer with the PTFA and take on a committee role, as I felt now was the right time for me to give something back to the school. As Social Media Officer, my role is the general upkeep of the PTA Facebook Page, Twitter and Website pages; and using these to keep parents informed of any upcoming events or PTFA news.

Meike Carvell

Ordinary Member

Hi. I am the proud Deputy Headteacher of St John’s School and, as part of the PTFA, I am what is known as an Ordinary Committee Member. This role means that I work alongside and support other PTFA officers, attending meetings and contributing to events, and am also required to vote on key decisions and funding requests. The PTFA, and the many volunteers who support events, play a vital role in contributing to improving the experiences for our children and I thoroughly enjoy being part of it

Jo Procter

Ordinary Member

Hi, I’m Jo, mum of 2 and self-employed nanny. As an Ordinary Member of the committee, I look forward to supporting the other committee members, with whatever that might involve!
