Week commencing 23/11/20

 

Below are a number of tasks to help your child with their maths skills development. Try and complete at least one task daily.

 

Our focus this week on Shapes, space and measure based around our theme of Colours. 

Below are a number of tasks to complete throughout the week. 

 

Monday:

Continue learning about the number 6. Practise writing number 6. Go on a search for six items. Ask your grown up to help you check by counting again one by one. Ask your grown up to give you a large group of items. Can you count out six from the large group? Count again to check. Well done. 

 

Tuesday

 

Look carefully at the worksheet attached. Now can you count and circle the picture with 6 items. Great work!

Wednesday:

Revise 2D shapes.

Square

Rectange

Triangle

Circle

Hexagon

With your child, discuss the properties of the 2D shapes.

How many corners?

How many sides?

How many faces? Are all the sides the same? Different?

Are all the sides straight?

Cut out shapes and make a picture with 2D shapes.

 

Wednesday

Introduce 3D shapes.

Sphere

Cylinder

Cone

Cube

Cuboid

 

With your child, discuss the properties of the 3D shapes.

How many corners?

How many sides?

How many faces? 

Go on a hunt around the house for 3D shaped objects.

 

Thursday

Recap 3D shapes.

Sphere

Cylinder

Cone

Cube

Cuboid

Use the attached sheet and find objects to match the 3D shapes.

 

 

Friday

Today we will practise counting 6 items again. Now have a go at completing the following task.
