Mrs Newton

to Matlock

Welcome to Year 4. I hope that you are looking forward to September as much as I am. As you already know, I am Mrs Newton and shall be teaching you in Matlock Class.

I have lived in Belper all my life. I even came to this school when I was your age! My 2 boys, William and Adam also came here too, so it is a very special school for me and I absolutely love working here. I have two German Shepherds called Mischa and Ember. If you see me out and about walking them, don't forget to say hello or give me a wave.

I worked at St. John's as a supply teacher for many years. In 2018, I started working here full-time as a Year 2 teacher. Even though I loved teaching Year 2, I transferred to Year 5 in 2019, then Year 3 and moved to Year 4 last year. This will be my second year teaching the same year group. I have to say that Year 4 is probably one on my favourite year groups to teach and I am excited about our all projects, such as ‘Invasion’, ‘Misty Mountains and Winding Rivers’ and ‘Ancient Civilisations.’ There are lots of things for us to learn about. In September, we will be having a Viking Day, so don’t forget to get making something in the Summer Holidays to wear. We will also work hard on our Times Tables in year 4, ready for our Multiplication Check in June.

I look forward to seeing you in September for our next adventure together.
