  • OFSTED inspection report

    Tue 19 Dec 2017

We are very pleased that OFSTED have provided us with a copy of our report today and that we are able to share it with you before the Christmas break. Unfortunatley we did not get the report until 2pm on the 19th December and therefore did not have time to print and distribute a letter to all 500 children in an hour and a half before home time. A letter will follow in January 2018 when we return to school.

A copy of the report is now available on our website for you to read. The report highlights lots of the good practice that happens every day at school and I am very pleased that all of the hard work done by all our staff has resulted in us having this recognised by OFSTED. It is particularly pleasing to read that

    • We have maintained our good status

    • The good work taking place in our nursery was recognised

    • Children’s behaviour and attitude at lunchtimes and throughout the rest of the day was commented on as being consistently good and often exemplary

    • Our work in improving standards in reading, maths and the results of disadvantaged children is proving successful

    • Our self-evaluation and school improvement plan are robust and are leading towards further improvements

    • Our strong Christian values are prominent in helping us develop children to become responsible adults

    • The two next steps for the school are already being addressed through our school improvement plan, which is available online.

To read a full copy of the report go to the OFSTED section of our school website.

  • Lost property and water bottles

    Mon 18 Dec 2017

    Lost Property

Please remember that the lost property box will be emptied over the Christmas holiday.

There are lots of gloves and hats in it, a few coats and several jumpers.

We do try to re-unite all property with owners if it is named but in the vast majority of cases the name isn't clear and will have to be thrown away.

    Water Bottles

Please ensure that all children bring home their water bottles and don't leave them in the classrooms. For hygiene, any water bottles that are left in class rooms will be thrown away during the holiday.

  • Snowy or extreme weather information

    Thu 07 Dec 2017

Please be aware of what our procedures are in snowy or extreme weather.

We will always work hard to ensure that the school stays open, however the information on this statement will help you with what happens if we are not able to open the school safely.

In times of extreme weather our most difficult job is always getting over fifty staff (including - key holders, cleaners, cooks, teachers, office staff) on site from places as far away as Nottingham and South Derby for 9am so that we can guarantee that meals can be cooked, paths can be cleared, first aid can be provided and children can be cared for safely and happily.

Please do not ring the school. If you are unsure check the front page of the school website, this will always be updated with the latest information.

  • OFSTED children survey

    Mon 04 Dec 2017

Children are invited to answer some questions to help the inspector in their inspection tomorrow. I enclose the paragraph we have had from the inspector today. Please click on the link below with your children and answer the questions before you come to school tomorrow.

Ofsted is inspecting your school and, would like to hear your views. You can do this by completing an online pupil questionnaire at the following link: ofsted.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/Pupil/10031238

Your views are really important to us and, will help inspectors understand your experience of school. The questionnaire will close at 11am on 05 December 2017, to give the inspector time to look at the results.
