A couple of parents have asked us to help with a few questions that we are pleased to answer.
Children can bring a water bottle with them. Each class will have a box to safely store them in.
Children are to wear their school uniforms.
When dropping your child off for the rehearsal, please take their coat with you and then bring it back when you pick them up.
Please don’t get to the church early.
We will only be able to let children into the church from 4.50pm for the rehearsal.
Families won’t be able to come into church for the concert until 6pm at the earliest.
Children will stay in the church between the rehearsal and the concert with staff. When parents and families arrive, you’ll go straight to find a seat, your children will be on stage ready to start performing at 6.15pm.
Free parking is a 5 minute walk away at the Coppice Car park – DE56 1FZ.
At the end of the concert children will be dismissed one class at a time. Please can parents stay in their seats until we call their child’s class. Children and parents can then meet each other in the church entrance area. Children will only be able to leave church with an adult.
We have published a letter for parents of children in years 1 and 2 who would like their child to attend Soccerstars football club, on Fridays, after school.
The club runs every Friday and parents can now book places for when we return from October half term.
Many thanks to the parents and friends that came to our meeting last night at The Grapes on the High Street in Belper.
At the meeting a few new dates were added to the school calendar and plans were made for some events that we were already looking forward to.
These events will only take place with the volunteer support of friends and families at St. John's. If you want to volunteer please
1) Get in touch with the team by using the contact us section on the PTFA page of our website. CLICK HERE.
or
2) Come to our next meeting at 7pm on the 28th November at The Grapes. As well as meeting people and making friends you'd be able to take advantage of the £2.80 a pint offer on Tuesday evenings.
The builders have informed us that they hope to be taking the scaffolding down on Saturday 7th October.
Hopefully we will return to school on Monday morning and have full use of all the doors and exits again.
On Monday afternoon, and until further notice, children will come out of the same doors that they have used whilst the scaffolding was up.
If we choose to change the doors that children use, now that the scaffolding has gone, we'll share this before making any changes.
2023 NHS Flu Vaccination Letters have started to be distributed by Mrs Cooper (Medical/Welfare Assistant) to our Reception to Year 6 parents today.
It has come to our attention that there is a problem when typing in the link provided on the letter for the online NHS consent form.
Once this problem is resolved we will ensure a new link is sent to you.
Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
Thank you.

Many thanks to the majority of our parents and families, who need to bring the car to school at the beginning or end of the day and do so with care and attention. This is appreciated by parents of children, who are walking, and local neighbours.
Unfortunately we have received messages this week that some of our families may not be parking with care or consideration for safety.
Please can all families help us maintain positive relationships our neighbours and ensure the safety of our children by parking carefully for example by not blocking drives or parking half on and half off the pavement, and parking safely by not parking on the yellow zig zags.
Thank you
Even though we have only just started this school year, families of year 6 children need to start thinking about September 2024 when their children begin secondary school. Year 6 children brought home information to help families to apply for their secondary school places this week.
Families need to apply for their places by midnight on the 31st October 2023. More information and links to the online application form can be found on the Derbyshire applications website. CLICK HERE.
Good afternoon
I hope that you have all enjoyed a lovely summer holiday and that you are all ready to come back to school at 9am tomorrow, Tuesday 5th September. We look forward to speaking to the children about their holidays and then helping them settle back into the school routine with their new teachers as quickly and happily as possible.
All of the building work at the front of school has finished and this scaffolding been taken down. Therefore, children will be able to come to school through the normal gate at the side of school at 9am and then leave school through this gate again at 3.30pm. We will not be using the big double gates from the carpark that come straight onto the playground.
We still have some scaffolding up as builders finish replacing the roof at the back of the building. But this will have no impact on getting in or out of the building.
See you all tomorrow.
Mr. Averis.
