Kedleston

Welcome to Kedleston with Mrs Astell

Hello, I'm Mrs Astell.  I'm really looking forward to teaching you all as you move into Year 3.

I have been teaching at St John's since 2008 and have taught in both KS1 and KS2.  I am looking forward to our first project "Scrumdiddlyumptious" which is all about food!  To link in with this, our first class reading book is "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl which is one of my favourite children's stories.

For the first few weeks, you will be staying in the room that was your Year 2 classroom whilst the builders are busy getting a brand new classroom ready for us to move into later on during the Autumn Term.  I'm really excited and can't wait to see what our new classroom is like! In the meantime, I've been busy getting our classroom ready for Year 3 in September with lots of help from my oldest daughter Lucy who is working hard at university to train to become a primary school teacher like me!

I have another daughter called Katie who loves horses.  We have two horses of our own called Magic and Tia and although I don't ride them, I spend lots of my spare time helping Katie to look after them.  I also like to go for walks in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and enjoy baking.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all in September.
