Mrs Girling & Mrs Taylor

Hello and welcome to Year 1! It was so wonderful to meet you all when you visited our new classroom last month-I hope you enjoyed your mornings with us and were excited to see your new classroom.

My name is Mrs Girling and I will be your teacher on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings. You will also see me at school on Thursdays and Fridays when I cover PPA time in other classes.

I have been a teacher at St. John's for over 20 years now and have mainly taught in years 1 and 2, although I have taught in every year group at other times. I love being part of the St. John's family - my 3 children have all been to St. John's too! My eldest daughter is just about to start college and my twins will be in Year 6 in September. It doesn't seem very long long since they were beginning Year 1, just like you!

When I'm not busy being a teacher, I like to go camping and my favourite place to be is at the seaside. I love giving my cat Willow lots of fuss and cuddles too.

I hope that you have a lovely summer holiday and I look forward to hearing all about your adventures when I see you in September.

My name is Mrs Taylor and I will be your teacher on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I have worked at St John’s for over twenty years and love being a part of this school. Before moving back to Derbyshire I taught in a school in Kent. I have taught in nearly all the year groups at St John’s and I can’t wait to start teaching all of you in Year one.

I love Derbyshire and spend most of my spare time walking or cycling around its beautiful countryside. I have two children who also enjoy doing anything outdoors. We have a Springer Spaniel called Monty who keeps us all active. We like getting away at the weekend and either camp or take our caravan. We’ve been back to Pembrokeshire quite a lot recently and love all the different beaches.

I enjoyed meeting you on your transition day and I look forward to learning all about you.
