Parents and carers of children in infants and reception.
We are all looking forward to our sport afternoon on Friday 11th July. However, we also need to ensure that the event is enjoyed happily and safely by the children, staff and spectators and the weather forecast for the next few days implies it is going to be very hot and sunny.
On Friday 11th July at 8.00am we will use any forecasts and potential weather warnings to decide if the event can go ahead as planned and publish the decision on our website and by email.
If we can’t have it on Friday 11th we will try to have it on the reserve session of Monday 14th July. The weather forecast at present for the 14th is for it to be cooler than on Friday. However, we will decide at 8am on Monday 14th July about having the event take place in the afternoon and publish information on the website and in an email.
Making the decision at 8am on each day seems to be the most sensible approach to ensure that we use the latest most up to date information available, whilst at the same time trying to help families make any arrangements with work.
We will be using the weather warning information given by the UK Health Security Agency. At present this is giving a yellow warning for Friday afternoon for the East Midlands. CLICK HERE.
If we can’t have it take place on either afternoon, with spectators, we will hopefully have the infant and reception sport event take place in school at another time, however we would not be able to welcome spectators.
I apologise for the upset that this may cause as we try to work with weather forecast, weather warnings, the safety of all and the arrangements that I know many of you make with work to come and support your children.
Thank you for your support and understanding - Mr. Averis
Update - 10am 9th July
Decisions about the nursery sport morning, hopefully taking place at 10am on Friday 11th July, will be made at 8am on Friday 11th as well.
