Road closure day - Thursday 20th June – Frequently asked questions
Most of the questions that we have had about the road closure day are easily answered by going to the official School streets website – CLICK HERE.
- I have a blue badge, am I allowed to drive along the closed street?
- Yes. However, we hope that for tomorrow every other solution of not driving along the few hundred meters of closed road is supported by as may people as possible.
- I don’t have a blue badge but will find it very difficult to get my child to school without driving to school. Will some cars still be driving along the closed road?
- Probably yes. The road closure legislation that we have followed, is the same legislation that is used for all other temporary road closures, such as Street Parties and Belper’s St. George’s annual parade. This legislation does allow traffic that needs to, to still use the road. For example, residents who have to access or leave their houses, emergency, delivery or works vehicles that need to get to a property inside the closure. Therefore, care still needs to be taken when crossing the road.
- Will any staff be outside helping families?
- Yes, Mrs. Carvell and Mr. Averis will be outside in the morning and afternoon. Mr. Averis will be up at the top of Laund Nook near the three-cornered park and Mrs. Carvell will be at the other closure point at the junction with Monyash Way.
- I want to respect the road closure and hope that it works but am worried about a change in routine at the end of the day when my child leaves school.
- We will re-iterate to all children that when they walk out of school on Thursday that if they can’t see their adults where they are expecting to see them that they are to come straight back into school where they will be looked after. Mr. Averis and Mrs. Carvell will also be outside helping children with any problems.
