We had a slightly later breakfast this morning before being collected at 9.30am to drive to La Martiniere for girls school to set up the sports day. It was a huge field and we all set to work setting out the equipment. I had organised 10 activities including skipping, egg and spoon, water relay, islands, under over and lots more. Each CRS school was given a starting point and when I blew the whistle we all began. The children had great fun and after 6 minutes we all moved on to the next number. After we had completed 5 activities we went back into the shade for a carton of juice and a biscuit. We then returned to our next activity until the final whistle blew for tiffin. 242 children took parts in the sports day from the seven different schools who attended.

We sat all the children down in their school groups and Scott Lane said grace before eating. They now use St John’s lunch time prayer before they have their tiffin. Each child was given a delicious box of food because of the money you gave for Christmas  jumper day. They loved the food and some children took their boxes home to share with their family.

After tiffin the magician started, the children had a wonderful time, their happy smiling faces made this day so worthwhile.

I then presented all the schools with winner medals and a certificate for taking part before they left.
Some schools had arrived in trucks but Scott Lane School walked back home with their teachers. I was surprised we had 18 children take part in the day as many of the mums yesterday were saying it was a long way for them to travel and they also didn’t know where the venue was.

Before we headed back to CRS we sang happy birthday to Rig David as it is his birthday tomorrow. The CRS staff had organised a cake for him which we all shared.

The final event of the day was to have some henna on our hands. The ladies  were from another women’s empowerment project. I love the design I got this year.

It has been another wonderful trip to Kolkata to see our friends at Scott Lane School. All the resources I brought out I have left with the teachers so that they can continue to use them with the children.

Now it’s time to pack as we are leaving at 5.30am tomorrow morning to get to the airport.
