Spanish Day 2021-2022

To celebrate the children’s success in their language learning, we had a whole school Spanish day. During the day, to enhance the Spanish curriculum, all children participated in several Spanish themed activities, where they had the opportunity to learn more Spanish, delve further into Spain and further explore Spanish culture.

1. Dance Days Workshop

We arranged for a company called ‘Dance Days’ to come into school to deliver some flamenco dance workshops. Flamenco is an art form combined of songs, dances, and instrumental music associated with southern Spain. The Spanish dance is recognised as a symbol of the nation's identity and is performed and enjoyed throughout the world.

2. Inspirational Languages

Melie, from inspirational languages, joined us for the day to deliver some mini Spanish lessons to the children. Melie is familiar to St. John's as she teaches Spanish to Reception; she really enjoyed joining us for our Spanish day and working with children from Nursery to Year 6.

3. Spanish Food

The school kitchen provided a special Spanish themed, tapas style, lunch for the children to enjoy.
