Week 2

Another amazing week! We have been learning about nocturnal and diurnal animals. We compared an owl and a bat and have been drawing owls using different media such as paint and charcoal. We have also been using the story 'Owl Babies' to inspire our writing and role play.

We explored our investigation from last week and were surprised by what had happened to the eggs. The cola stained the white egg terribly and the orange juice dissolved the shell. We have also been using our sense of smell to try and work out what was inside each cup. Some nocturnal animals use their sense of smell to find food in the dark.

We also used the Gruffalo story to map the journey of the mouse and the children did some amazing writing to label the fox, rock, path, nut and others.

In RE, we learnt about people who are special to us and help us in our community and the importance of saying thank you. The children made a giant thank you card to give the PTFA for giving us hot chocolate on our Starry Night treasure hunt.

At forest school this week the Gruffalo was hiding. We had to find him and he surprised us by having a game for us play, subitising and creating dominos of our own. The children were brilliant at saying what they noticed - 2 dots and 1 dot make 3 altogether.
