Welcome to Kedleston!
Hello, I'm Mrs Astell. I'm really looking forward to teaching you all as you move into Year 3.
I have been teaching at St John's since 2008 and have taught in both KS1 and KS2.
I am looking forward to our first Driver Project 'Through The Ages' which is a history project. We will learn about the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze age. We will also be learning about Humans and Animals in Science and creating Clay Pots in our Art and Design Lessons.
One of my favourite subjects is English. I have really enjoyed all of the books we use in our writing lessons and am looking forward to our first book called 'Seal Surfer' which is all about a boy and a baby seal. Our first poetry unit is called 'Shell' so if you are lucky enough to go the seaside this summer, maybe you could collect a few shells to bring in to school to help inspire your poetry writing.
I am also looking forward to teaching you Spanish in September. I love learning languages and speak French fluenty. I am enjoying improving my Spanish as we learn together at school.
I can't wait to see you all in September!
