Viking Day - 25th September
Today, “Bjorn” from Portals to the Past came to school to teach us all about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. He told us Viking tales and showed us a map of the routes they took. We completed a quiz by searching for the answer on some boards, we played a Viking board game and Bjorn showed us some Viking artefacts including a bowl and spoon, a comb made of reindeer antler and bone and a drinking horn. In the afternoon, Bjorn dressed as a Viking warrior and gave a talk about weapons and warfare. We re-enacted the Battle of Hastings.
What a fun day of learning we had!
Did you know? The Vikings did not wear horns on the sides of their helmets – this is a myth.
