Literacy

Week commencing 5/10/20

We  will be using several songs from YouTube to help children with their learning and will provide these in some of our weekly lessons. We check these, before links are provided for use. Please be aware that when your child is using the YouTube links they need adult supervision as this site has age restrictions and, as a result, should not be used independently by your child,

Many thanks,

Mrs Badhan and Mrs Christie

Remember to practise your tricky words daily!

Daily Tasks

Monday: Watch Geraldine the Giraffe on YouTube teach the c sound. Play I Spy games at home. Go on a hunt for objects beginning with the c sound. Practise writing the c sound in the air. The sound c is a bouncy sound. Try saying c-c-c-c-c-c-c

Tuesday: Watch Geraldine the Giraffe on YouTube teach the k sound. Go on a hunt for objects beginning with the k sound. k is a bouncy sound. Have a go at saying the k sound.

Wednesday: Watch Geraldine the Giraffe on YouTube teach the ck sound. This sound is at the end of words; for example, clock, frock, sock.

Adult to have a sheet with pictures or objects with ck at the end and words to sound out. Have a sack or a bin. Adult to sound out the word. Is it a real word? If it is put in the sack. If it is a nonsense word, place in the bin. Well done!

Thursday: revise sounds taught so far. Have the objects all mixed up and children to place in correct pile. Does it begin with a c? k? or end with ck? Make flash cards with the sounds s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o and revise. Great work today!

Friday: Cut out pictures from an Argos catalogue of objects beginning with the sounds of the week. Sort the pictures and glue into a scrapbook or sheet.

Well done. Remember you can send us pictures of your work on Tapestry. We look forward to seeing you back at school very soon.

Join Geraldine the Giraffe as she goes on a search around the house looking for things beginning with the sound of the day!
