Opportunities

Here are some opportunities for Year 6 children to support others in our school and develop their leadership skills.

Learning and Targets

Curriculum

Click the link below to see what your child will be learning this year.

Google Classrooms

There will be times when homework is set on Google classrooms or when your child may need to access this from home. Your child will have their login details in their reading record and should know how to find any work set.

Class Readers 2023/2024

We are continuing to use the Activity Passport to make sure that children have the chance to try out new activities.

This Activity Passport provides exciting ideas of activities that children can try out at home and at school and encourages them to be as creative as possible.

Parent Information

Should you need to contact me, please call or email the School office: info@st-johnscofe.derbyshire.sch.uk who will arrange a time for us to meet or schedule a phone conversation.

Homework

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that homework is handed out on a Friday and is to be returned by Thursday.

  • Maths – maths.co.uk
  • SPaG – spag.com

In addition to this, we also ask children to:

  • Learn the 20 spellings that are handed out on a Friday for the weekly spelling test on the following Friday
  • Independent reading/reading to an adult for 20 minutes a day, a minimum of 5 times a week – this is to be recorded in reading records and signed by an adult
  • Complete the set activities on TTRockstars

Project Information

We study three ‘driver’ projects each year. History drives our Project learning in the Autumn and Summer terms, whilst Geography drives our Spring learning.

Within these ‘driver’ projects, we explore a variety of ‘companion projects’ to embed our learning.
