  • Assessment data for summer 2024

    Wed 17 Jul 2024

We have published the provisional assessment data for the government tests and assessments that children are required to access at St. John's for summer 2024.

Once again we are really pleased that hundreds of children have achieved to their best abilities. We know that St. John's is about much more than the government tests and the rest of our website celebrates lots of other fantastic opportunities that children have at our wonderful school.

School are legally required to share assessment data with parents and we hope that our website helps parents access information that they want to see.

  • Colour run cancelled

    Tue 16 Jul 2024

Unfortunately we have had to cancel the colour run that was due to take place tomorrow on Wednesday 17th July.

This is due to a saturated school field that can not be used for the event.

This is really upsetting for families who were looking forward to the event and for the volunteers at the PTFA who have spent a long time preparing for what we hoped would be a lovely sunny evening on the field.

The PTFA are at present considering options about what could potentially be done to replace the event and to consider any potential refunds. Please keep checking the PTFA website for more information about this.

  • Road closure day FAQ's - Thursday 20th June

    Wed 19 Jun 2024

Road closure day - Thursday 20th June  – Frequently asked questions

Most of the questions that we have had about the road closure day are easily answered by going to the official School streets website – CLICK HERE.

    1. I have a blue badge, am I allowed to drive along the closed street?
      1. Yes. However, we hope that for tomorrow every other solution of not driving along the few hundred meters of closed road is supported by as may people as possible.
    2. I don’t have a blue badge but will find it very difficult to get my child to school without driving to school. Will some cars still be driving along the closed road?
      1. Probably yes. The road closure legislation that we have followed, is the same legislation that is used for all other temporary road closures, such as Street Parties and Belper’s St. George’s annual parade. This legislation does allow traffic that needs to, to still use the road. For example, residents who have to access or leave their houses, emergency, delivery or works vehicles that need to get to a property inside the closure. Therefore, care still needs to be taken when crossing the road.
    3. Will any staff be outside helping families?
      1. Yes, Mrs. Carvell and Mr. Averis will be outside in the morning and afternoon. Mr. Averis will be up at the top of Laund Nook near the three-cornered park and Mrs. Carvell will be at the other closure point at the junction with Monyash Way.
    4. I want to respect the road closure and hope that it works but am worried about a change in routine at the end of the day when my child leaves school.
      1. We will re-iterate to all children that when they walk out of school on Thursday that if they can’t see their  adults where they are expecting to see them that they are to come straight back into school where they will be looked after. Mr. Averis and Mrs. Carvell will also be outside helping children with any problems.
