Week 3

This week we have been learning all about fossils! We have spent time looking at some real fossils and one of these was an ammonite.

We looked at the spiral shape of the fossil and talked about how this fossil would have been formed.

The children then made their own ammonite fossils out of clay!

This week the children have also been coming up with their own pirate stories. We created a whole class story using pirate props and the children had some wonderful ideas!

We have also learnt about prehistoric animals through the story 'Cave Baby' by Julia Donaldson and the children had a go at their own cave paintings.

In Maths we have been learning about 3D shapes and the children have been exploring which of these shapes are best for building towers, recognising the flat and curved features of different shapes.

We also had a wonderful time celebrating Red Nose Day on Friday! The classroom had lots of fun 'red' activites and we even had a whole school joke compeition.

Well done to our winner Jude!  Here's his joke...
