Autumn 1 - Me and My Community / Exploring Autumn

Me and My Community

This terms project will teach us about the different communities that we are part of and we will explore who is in our family, what makes a great friendship, who helps us in school and people who help in our local community.

Exploring Autumn

Our mini project will  teach us about the natural changes that happen during autumn, including how the weather changes, why trees lose their leaves and how wild animals prepare for the cold weather coming in winter.

What a fantastic start to school! We have had great fun getting to know each other, making new friends and trying different activities. We have enjoyed learning our new poem each week especially doing the actions to 'If your happy and you know it!'

Buxton Bear loved looking in your special 'All about me' bags and we are even getter quicker at getting changed for PE. What an amazing start! smiley

Here are some photographs of our learning this half term. Mr Averis and Reverend Anne visited us to talk about how they help us in our community. We have also made maps and explored goggle maps to find the school, church, park and Belper high street.

Oh no! What has happened in Buxton Class over the weekend. The children were really surprised and upset to see that Teddy had made such a mess over the weekend. He had left toys lying around, ate our snack and left biscuit crumbs crushed everywhere.

We talked about being a good community and working together to help tidy up. The children did a brilliant job and were really keen to help.

We had a wonderful time this week learning the songs for the ising pop concert in St Peter's Church.

The children were brilliant and thank you to everyone who helped us walk to church and back. You all sounded amazing!

What a brilliant day we had today! After learning about harvest and the hard work that goes into growing our vegetables today we made  some soup that we then shared with the other classes to reinforce being a good community and working together.

The soup was delicious and all the children helped to chop the vegetables to put in the pot. We then enjoyed listening to the story Pumpkin Soup and used the left over vegetables to pretend to make our own soup, cakes and tasty treats.
