Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
All of our year 5 children have arrived safely and happily at Lea Green and are enjoying their first round of activities.
Many thanks to all the families that have started using the cashless payment system for junior school dinners. We have had positive feedback how easy Parentpay is to use, which is great news.
Unfortunately, we do have some families that aren’t using Parentpay to pay for meals in a timely manner. Please can families ensure that their Parent pay account is always in credit so that children are enjoying meals that have been paid for, and not pay in arrears.
Despite the weather forecasts working against us for the junior sport afternoons last week, we are still going to ensure that our children get to enjoy a sport festival.
Over the next two weeks we are going to have
The school calendar is very busy over the next two weeks. We have school trips, visitors and other events that have been in the calendar for a long time. Please ensure that junior children have their PE kits with them in school every day so that we can run this event as soon as the weather and school calendar allows. The weather forecast for the next fortnight isn’t brilliant, with the BBC showing rain every day from tomorrow (Saturday 8th) to Thursday 20th. Fingers crossed we get to enjoy this event ASAP. Sorry but we will not be inviting families and parents into watch these sport festivals.
Update at 11.55am
Unfortunately we have been caught out by the weather. Heavy rain for the last 30 minutes has now soaked the field and the weather forecast for the rest of the afternoon is for more heavy rain and thundery showers.
We are really sorry but we have had to cancel this year's junior sport afternoon.
This is never what we want to happen and, as I shared in Friday's weekly blog (CLICK HERE) this is the first time for many years that a sport afternoon hasn't been able to take place due to the weather.
Once again, sorry for any upset and frustration that this causes and thank you for understanding the position that we are in.
Update - Monday morning 10.30am
Good morning.
Once again the weather forecast is not helping us make a decision about the junior sport afternoon later today. However, today the grass is dry at present and not wet and slippy as it was at 10.30am on Friday morning.
With this in mind we are not making the final decision as to whether or not the sport afternoon will take place today until midday today.
We hope that delaying the decision until then gives us enough time to finish setting up and gives parents enough time to make arrangements to attend.
Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience that this may create, but hope that families understand the position that we are in.
Update at 10.35am
Unfortunately, the weather forecast for this afternoon has got worse, therefore we have made the difficult decision to postpone this afternoon's junior sport day.
We are really sorry for the inconvenience that this causes to families who have made arrangements to attend.
We have already done a lot of work in preparing for this afternoon and have all the equipment ready to go. We are therefore pleased that the weather forecast has improved slightly for Monday afternoon and hope to be able to have our sport afternoon then instead.
Update at 8.05am on Friday 30th June
At time of writing the weather forecast for this afternoon is a 40% chance of consistent drizzle from 1pm to 4pm. CLICK HERE.
We will be making a final decision on whether the junior sport afternoon can run today at 10.30am this morning. At present the weather forecast for our reserve session of Monday afternoon is equally as wet.
We all have our fingers crossed that the weather forecast improves so that we can enjoy our afternoon on the field today.
Industrial Action - July 2023
We have published a letter to help families make plans for the planned industrial action on Wednesday and Friday the 5th and 7th July. CLICK HERE.
I’m sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child at short notice, and that they will experience disruption to their education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating, but hope that sharing the information I have, as it stands today, helps you in making arrangements as soon as possible.
Parents will be aware that RS coaching ran a holiday club during May half term. Due to the success of this club RS coaching will be running another club during the summer holiday, at St. John's.
The summer holiday club will run for 10 days (Monday to Friday) for the fortnight Monday 7th to Friday 18th August. It will begin at 8.45am and finish at 3.30pm.

Many thanks to RS coaching, who already provide us with a lunchtime play leader every day, in helping us run another holiday club for our families.
Return Update
The children have enjoyed their final morning of activities and have begun their coach journey back to school, leaving White Hall at approximately 1:20 p.m.
The expected time of arrival back at school is currently as planned,
and I think they will all sleep well tonight!
