    Weather Update – Thursday 9 July – 10.00am

    Good morning,

I am sorry to let you know that we have made the decision to postpone the Nursery and Infant Sports Events that were due to take place on Friday 10 July.

We appreciate that changes like this can be disappointing and may cause some inconvenience for families. However, after reviewing the latest weather forecasts, we believe this is the right decision for the safety and wellbeing of both children and adults.

Although there is currently no weather warning in place, today's forecast is predicting higher temperatures than yesterday's forecast, with temperatures expected to reach 33°C tomorrow afternoon. Given these conditions, we do not feel it would be appropriate to hold the events.

We are hopeful that the cooler temperatures currently forecast for next week will allow us to hold:

    • Nursery Sports Event – Monday 13 July at 10.00am
    • Infant Sports Event – Monday 13 July at 1.30pm
    •

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility and continued support. We know how much families enjoy these events, and we look forward to welcoming you on Monday.

    Kind regards,

    Mr Averis

  • Weather update 8th July 11.15am

    Wed 08 Jul 2026

    Weather Update – Wednesday 8 July, 11.15am

    Good morning,

You may have seen reports in the news that a heat-health alert has been issued for parts of the UK over the coming days by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). Further information can be found here: CLICK HERE.

At the time of writing, the Met Office has not issued any weather warnings for our area. Current Met Office warnings can be viewed here: CLICK HERE.

While both organisations issue alerts to help keep people safe, they serve slightly different purposes. UKHSA Weather-Health Alerts focus on the potential health impacts of weather conditions and are primarily aimed at health and social care services, as well as emergency responders. Under an Amber Heat-Health Alert, UKHSA advises that weather impacts may be felt across the health service, with the potential for the wider population to be affected.

When making decisions about school operations and events, we follow guidance and warnings issued by the Met Office, as these are specifically intended to support decisions relating to schools and local weather conditions.

    At present:

We are taking a number of precautions in school, including:

    • Keeping children indoors during the afternoon break.
    • Ensuring children remain in shaded areas during lunchtime.
    • Providing sun cream where required.
    • Encouraging regular water consumption throughout the day.

We would appreciate your support by ensuring that children:

    • Bring a water bottle that allows them to drink without removing the lid.
    • Have sun cream applied before coming to school.
    • Wear loose-fitting clothing where appropriate.
    • Bring and wear a sun hat.

At present, we are planning to proceed with the Nursery sports event (morning) and Infant sports event (afternoon) on Friday 10 July. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will review these arrangements if any information changes or relevant Met Office weather warnings are issued.

Thank you for your continued support.
