  • Kolkata update - January 2026

    Thu 15 Jan 2026

Link with Kolkata and our friends at Scott Lane School
Twelve months ago Mrs. Richardson was in Kolkata, teaching at Scott Lane school. Once again several Derbyshire teachers have flown out to India to work in the pavement schools of Kolkata this January. Despite us not having a teacher fly out to Kolkata this year, Mrs. Richardson has still sent out resources and messages to our friends at Scott Lane. Mrs. Richardson and the children in our 'Kolkata Companions' group also worked to raise £300 on our Christmas jumper day last month to help the pavement children that attend Scott Lane School.

You are invited to follow this link to see the children at Scott Lane this week using the resources that Mrs. Richardson sent out and that were taken to Scott Lane by Alison and Anita, two staff that organise the annual trip for Derbyshire schools . CLICK HERE.

You are also invited and encouraged to spend 10 minutes watching this video. This was made by the Cathedral Relief Service (CRS) in Kolkata. It's the CRS that we have links with and that  manage the schools attended by the pavement children. The video explores the lives of three pavement children and helps remind us of how lucky we are to live in Belper. CLICK HERE.

  • School closed - Friday 9th January

    Fri 09 Jan 2026

Update at 6.45am on Friday 9th January 2026

Due to the severe weather conditions, we have made the difficult decision to close today, Friday 9th January 2026. The safety of our children and staff is always our top priority, and given the circumstances, closing—alongside other local schools—is the safest option.

We understand this may cause inconvenience for some families, and we sincerely apologise for that.

Our website will be updated throughout the day, and teachers will be uploading work online to support remote learning.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
