Mrs. Higgs and Miss Cooper have both sent messages to school letting us know that everyone is having lots of fun at Whitehall and that they are enjoying the warm dry weather that we have got in Belper.
Miss. Cooper has let us know that the children have arrived safely at Whitehall at the start of their 2 night residential.
Let's hope the weather is better than last week for them.
Earlier this month the Government announced that in 2020 the spring bank holiday will be on Friday 8th May 2020 and not Monday 4th May 2020. We have updated our calendar page and the easy to print calendar to show this change.
Children will be in school as normal on Monday 4th May 2020. School will be closed on Friday 8th May 2020.
The cricket competition at Eyes Meadow in Duffield has been cancelled tonight. All parents should have had a text on Tuesday letting them know of this.
Mr. White's cricket club at school for the infants is taking place. We will use the school hall if it is wet.
Children are bringing home class photograph proofs today - Friday 7th June.
Any orders need returned to Mrs. Hows in the office by Friday 14th June at the latest.
Next week is our walk to school week and we want to encourage as many children as possible to walk some or all of the way to school. It would be great if we could get your support in helping reduce our school’s carbon footprint and reduce congestion on local roads by making some effort to walk to school on some days or for all of our walk to school week. We welcomed Mrs. Simpson into the office on Monday when she began her new job at St. John's. Mrs. Simpson replaces Mrs. Martinez, who left us at Easter.
Mrs. Simpson begins work at 9.30am every day and finishes at 4.45pm and looks forward to meeting lots of you as soon as possible.
Our office opening hours remain the same from 8am to 4.45pm every day with Mrs. Howis now beginning work at 8am every day and Mrs. Simpson working to 4.45pm every day.
Children now have access to suncream to help them stay sunsafe.
We encourage all children to apply suncream before leaving the house in the morning with parental supervision, high quality suncream will provide protection for the day.
The suncream at school is applied by the children themselves. Staff do not supervise this. If you would like your children to apply suncream at school please ensure that you return the letter sent home by Mrs. Girling with the suncream permission slip on the bottom.
Unfortunately the parent association have had to cancel the discos that they had planned for Thursday 6th June. They apologise for any inconvenience that this causes.
To ensure that children are safe at school during tonight's parent evening they will not be allowed to play on the school playground. There are no adults supervising the playground as all the teachers are in classrooms and the hall speaking to parents.
If, due to child care, you have to bring your child with you to parent evening tonight please ensure that they sit with you whilst waiting to see the teacher and then sit quietly whilst you go to speak to teachers.
Thank you for your support in this matter.
