We have cancelled the Y1 trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Thursday 1st March, due to poor weather. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, especially to parents that have taken time off work to help on the trip.
As soon as we have information about potentially re-arranging the date we will be able to let families know about a new date or refund arrangements.
Reception children will not be walking to church on Wednesday 28th February due to snow and ice on the ground.
The service will take place on Monday 12th March at 10am instead.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, especially to people that may have taken time off work.
Children are bringing home a medical update letter tonight - Friday 26th January 2018.
Unfortunately we had no access to the internet or emails from 11.30am until 5.30pm on Thursday 10th January. This was not a school issue. Our internet line had been cut at the exchange. We notified BT and Openreach as soon as we identified this as the problem. We still had access to phone lines all day.
We apologise for any problems that this caused on the day.
We are very pleased that OFSTED have provided us with a copy of our report today and that we are able to share it with you before the Christmas break. Unfortunatley we did not get the report until 2pm on the 19th December and therefore did not have time to print and distribute a letter to all 500 children in an hour and a half before home time. A letter will follow in January 2018 when we return to school.
A copy of the report is now available on our website for you to read. The report highlights lots of the good practice that happens every day at school and I am very pleased that all of the hard work done by all our staff has resulted in us having this recognised by OFSTED. It is particularly pleasing to read that
We have maintained our good status
The good work taking place in our nursery was recognised
Children’s behaviour and attitude at lunchtimes and throughout the rest of the day was commented on as being consistently good and often exemplary
Our work in improving standards in reading, maths and the results of disadvantaged children is proving successful
Our self-evaluation and school improvement plan are robust and are leading towards further improvements
Our strong Christian values are prominent in helping us develop children to become responsible adults
The two next steps for the school are already being addressed through our school improvement plan, which is available online.
To read a full copy of the report go to the OFSTED section of our school website.
Lost Property
Please remember that the lost property box will be emptied over the Christmas holiday.
There are lots of gloves and hats in it, a few coats and several jumpers.
We do try to re-unite all property with owners if it is named but in the vast majority of cases the name isn't clear and will have to be thrown away.
Water Bottles
Please ensure that all children bring home their water bottles and don't leave them in the classrooms. For hygiene, any water bottles that are left in class rooms will be thrown away during the holiday.
Our annual Christmas Carol concert will be on Monday 18th December, 7.30pm at St. Peter's church.

This is a family favourite and a traditional way to start the Christmas season. Heage Brass band play along to lots of your favourite carols and Father Christmas hopes to pay us a visit!
