Please be aware of what our procedures are in snowy or extreme weather.
We will always work hard to ensure that the school stays open, however the information on this statement will help you with what happens if we are not able to open the school safely.
In times of extreme weather our most difficult job is always getting over fifty staff (including - key holders, cleaners, cooks, teachers, office staff) on site from places as far away as Nottingham and South Derby for 9am so that we can guarantee that meals can be cooked, paths can be cleared, first aid can be provided and children can be cared for safely and happily.
Please do not ring the school. If you are unsure check the front page of the school website, this will always be updated with the latest information.
Please remember that we are looking forward to receiving any donations for our Christmas fayre tomorrow night, Friday 8th December.
Chocolate, bottles (alcohol, soft drinks, toiletries etc), pre loved uniform, Tombola gifts, cakes and mince pies are all welcome.
Please send to library or place in yellow donations bins outside school first thing.
Thankyou!
Children are invited to answer some questions to help the inspector in their inspection tomorrow. I enclose the paragraph we have had from the inspector today. Please click on the link below with your children and answer the questions before you come to school tomorrow.
Ofsted is inspecting your school and, would like to hear your views. You can do this by completing an online pupil questionnaire at the following link: ofsted.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/Pupil/10031238
Your views are really important to us and, will help inspectors understand your experience of school. The questionnaire will close at 11am on 05 December 2017, to give the inspector time to look at the results.
We have been informed today that we will be inspected tomorrow, Tuesday 5th December 2017.
Parents are encouraged to complete a parental survey to help the inspector find out about our school. CLICK HERE.
Children are bringing home a letter with more information, this letter and an inspection guide for parents is available on our school website. CLICK HERE.
Parents and carers are invited to subscribe to our email update service. Families that choose to do this will receive a weekly email informing them of what is happening and will be happening at school and be the first to hear of other important news as information as we are able to share it.
This is a free and confidential service.

Week beginning Monday 13th November is anti bullying week. To support and recognise this week we are joining in with odd socks day on Monday 13th November. The theme for the week is that all children are different and all children are equal. To show this we are encouraging children to wear odd socks on Monday 13th. The socks can be as mad and as exciting as possible, but they need to be different!
Children will also be having assemblies and teachers will be talking about the importance to children of working together and keeping everyone happy. At. St. John's we like to focus on the fantastic friends that we can all make at school and we will also be celebrating friendship next week as well.
Children will be bringing home a letter form Mrs. Gilring, our anti-bullying lead teacher, on Friday 10th Nov with information to help parents.
