A letter was published and sent home to parents in our weekly email on Friday 20th January about the industrial action scheduled to take place on Wednesday 1st February 2023.
Paper copies of this letter were sent home on Tuesday 24th Jan with children in the classes that will be closed on the strike day.
Now that the builders have left, we are able to return to using the normal side gate at the beginning and end of the school day. This means that we won't have to use the car park entrance and children and families will no longer have to walk through the car park to get to school.
From Monday 16th January, children need to come into school through the side gate next to Mr. Keene's classroom (A3) as we used to do. Children will also leave school through this gate at the end of the day.
At the beginning of the day, children in years one and three will then be able to go to their classrooms through the first door on the left just after this gate. All other children will then go to their classrooms from the playground.
At the end of the day all children, including year one and year three children, will be dismissed onto the playground.
All parents are invited onto the playground to pick up and drop off children, however, we encourage junior parents to wait outside the front of school to collect their older children.
This is also a good opportunity to remind parents to re-enforce the message to children that we give about the end of the day. Please tell your children that if ever they leave school and they can't find an adult at the agreed waiting place then they must come straight back to school, where staff will look after them and ring families. This is especially important for older children, who may meet adults at the park, or further away from school, as parents begin to give their children independence at the end of the day.
We have added the third INSET day to our calendar for school year 2023-2024
INSET day 1 - Monday 4th September 2023
INSET day 2 - Thursday 26th October 2023 (newly added)
INSET day 3 - Friday 27th October 2023
This means that for children the October half term break will begin at 3.30pm on Wednesday 25th October and children will return to school at 9am on Monday 6th November.
We still have 2 INSET days to add to the calendar for 2023-2024 and will share these dates with parents as soon as we have them.
We are really pleased that the builders have been able to hand over our three new classrooms ready for January.
Mrs. Astell's and Miss Martin's year three children were able to begin moving into them at the end of the autumn term ready for a fresh start in January. Our updated building plan shows you where their new classrooms will be - CLICK HERE.
Mrs. Wojcik's year one children may also spend the first few weeks of the spring term in one of the new classrooms (A7) as some work takes place in their existing classroom to repair a leaking rain water down pipe. They will then move back once this is finished.
On January 8th all of the procedures for the start and end of the day will be the same as they have been throughout the Autumn term. Once we have settled back in January, we are planning to return to using the side gate in the mornings and the end of the day so that children and families don't have to walk across two carparks to get into school. We will share more information in January about when this will happen.
We have all been moved by the tragic incidents in Birmingham last weekend and the death of four children. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the children.
All teachers at school have spoken to the children about staying safe in icy conditions and not going on frozen water. Parents that want to to help their children understand the dangers of water safety in icy conditions are able to use the poster below.
The most important messages to give children are
We have published a letter for families about Christmas gifts for staff. We hope that this information helps families recognise that no gifts are expected and that if children want to offer any thanks or kind words that home made cards or letters are the best way of doing so. CLICK HERE.
